Schnitzler’s round of relationships has been revisited many times since he wrote it in 1900 (it was considered so shocking that it did not receive its first production until 1920 – in a friend’s living room). This contemporary approach to the Viennese classic has an astrological theme. An Aries hooks up with a Pisces, who hooks up with a Taurus, and so it goes, around the cosmic circle. This musical version can be presented with a cast of 12 but, with appropriate doubling, can also be a showcase for 6 strong performers.
